Description

An early and rare plated adjustable floor lamp by WAS Benson
with impressed hammer mark and letters WASB to underside of footplate. There is no oil lamp font,carrier or burner with the stand. Originally found completely covered with seven layers of paint that has been removed using non-aggressive process. Considerable wear to the plating and some marks but could be restored fully or left as used. Now converted to electricity without any damage to the structural integrity of the lamp. The base/foot-plate is as later used on the model No 276 floor lamp and shown in the 1899-1900 Benson Sales Catalogue.Also features the Benson design compression fitting for adjustment.Fully tested and certified.
A wonderful lamp that is still a quality item.
