19th Century Italian freestanding carved walnut writing table, the shaped top having a green leather writing surface decorated with gold and blind tooling, the border of the writing surface is decorated with carved beading, lovely carved moulded edge top incorporating the same carved beading as of the edge of the leather writing surface, a single frieze drawer at the front of the table which is profusely carved, as is the sides and back of the table, with various foliage with grotesque masks at the centre and at each corner of the table, supported on four bold barley twist legs united by a highly shaped and carved stretcher with a very ornate finial at the centre. A fabulous piece of antique furniture and in excellent condition. Circa 1840.
