8 x Art Deco Silver Teaspoons, Barker Bros, 1933
This is a stylish Cased Set of Eight Art Deco Sterling Silver Teaspoons. The teaspoons are double struck with an Odeon style design at the top of each stem on both the upper and lower sides. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.
The teaspoons were made in Birmingham by Barker Brothers Silverware and date to the height of the Art Deco era in 1933. Founded in 1801 by Mary Barker, the firm became Barker Brothers in 1886 when Mary's grandsons were in control. They were very successful silversmiths and electroplaters and remained in business up until 1992.
Condition is very good, with no dings or dents and just the superficial surface wear that you would expect with use and the passage of time. The box is a little scuffed on the outside and there is some marking to the sation lining in the lid but the clasp and hinges are in good working order. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
Each spoon is 11.3cm / 4.4ins long and the set of eight together, unboxed, weighs in at 103.7g / 3.6oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks, on the backs of the bowls are nice and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter J for 1933 and the B.B.S.Ld makers' mark for Barker Brothers Silverware Ltd.
Shipping in the UK is £11 by Royal Mail Special Delivery, which includes cover for the value of the spoons.
Overseas customers, please ask us about shipping costs to your country before making a purchase.
