It is a absolute pleasure to offer this fully restored George III brass mounted mahogany table clockBenjamin Sidey, London, circa 1785
The five pillar double fusee bell striking movement with chinoiserie engraved backplate has been fully serviced in our onsite workshop and works without fault having been on test for three weeks prior to listing for sale.
The 7 inch brass break-arch dial with calendar and false bob apertures and silvered nameplate signed Benj Sidey, London has also been fully restored to give the the dial a fresh lease of life for many years to come. The pierced steel hands and rococo scroll cast spandrels are a fantastic compliment to the dial and subsidiary strike / silent dial.
The mahogany case is a stunning example. The case have been refinishing by our master craftsman french polisher/case restorer. The break arch door and pads to the top of the case are surrounded with brass banding giving the antique clock that extra elegance (please note the feet are not original)
Benjamin Sidey Jnr is recorded in Baillie, G.H. Watchmakers & Clockmakers of the World as apprenticed (presumably to his father of the same name) in 1731 and gaining his freedom of the Clockmaker's Company in 1738. He subsequently worked from Moorfields, London until 1795
This clock is a fantastic example, of great proportions standing 17 1/2 inches high with the handle up 10 1/4 inches wide and 7 deep. This clock needs for nothing and is in excellent condition ready to be displayed in your home.
Although my photography skill aren’t the best II have tried to include as much detail as II can.
Any potential clients are very welcome to view the clock prior to purchase (or pay on delivery)to ensure that they are satisfied with their purchase.
This clock is much nicer in the flesh and looks superb .
If the asking price is paid in full then I will deliver and set up the clock free of charge to the English mainland,Wales and the Scottish lowlands.I will also provide a 24 months guarantee under these circumstances. This is the same service that is provided by a high street retailer without the customer having to pay for the overheads
If a lesser off is accepted then this will be sold as a trade sale with the clock as described and with shipping costs the responsibility of the buyer.
I will ship this clock worldwide .
UK buyers are asked to use alternative means of payment to Pay Pal if at all possible.
