A Large 17th Century Inlaid and Carved Oak Coffer
This is a lovely old piece, with a superb patina, the chest has three decorative panels carved with the Tree of Life these are bordered with fruitwood inlay, these are surrounded with more superb carving and date of 1694
Inside the Coffer there is a superb piece of history, there is a rather gruesome provenance from 1874 when this piece was purchased and it is still very readable if somewhat stained
The Coffer has blacksmith made iron work, butterfly hinges, lock and it stands on stile feet
The coffer is 53” long, 23” deep and 28” high
