A Superbly Carved 19th Century Oak Panel
A Superbly Carved 19th Century Oak Panel
This is an attractive carved panel, with a moral, the panel tells the story of Aesop’s fable of the Fox and the Grapes. If you remember the tale, the fox after great efforts to reach the juicy grapes and failing decided that they were probably sour anyway.
The panel came from a door of a piece of antique furniture and is probably of French origin, the quality of the carving is very good and the panel has a pleasant patina
The panel is 14” wide x 25” high and about 2” in relief
