A stool designed by Edward Barnsley and used at the coronation of Elizabeth II, 1953. There were 5700 stools made for the coronation by various different antique furniture makers, this one was made by Glenisters of High Wycombe. They were all made in oak, finished with a silver wax paste that went in to the open pores of the timber giving them a silver hue. These were upholstered in a specially woven blue velvet and gold braid (this stool has been recovered).
