An Oak Bentwood Butter Pail. A late 19th century bentwood oak
An oak bentwood butter pail, not a wood commonly used for steam bending. A very unusual item with a lid that fits in a slot one side and a sliding catch that clips in the other side. When clipped in it enables the pail and contents to be carried about by the handle.
