An Old Letter Seal With Two Sticks Of Wax. letter seal seal antique writing
An old wooden seal with two unused sticks of new wax for sealing letters.
The wood is two tone, possibly lignum vitae, and the seal matrix brass. The pattern created by pressing it into the melted wax would be like a waffle.
