This exceptional Sorrento ware bowl has been finely turned out of olive wood with an intricate design. The centre has one of the best panels of marquetry work for which this region of Italy was famed. It depicts two young girls in conversation carrying their wares. The bowl is further enhanced with a decorative inlaid banding of yew wood to the finely shaped serpentine rim which is strung on each side with boxwood and ebony.
This bowl is in good original condition with rich colour and patina.
