This is a wonderful and quality Kashan carpet from Central Persia which dates from the late 19th century. Kashan carpets are expertly woven with the finest of wools and the patterns created are intricate and beautiful. This carpet has a wonderful and dramatic colour palette, the indigo field of scrolling vines centred by a rich coral and gold medallion, all enclosed by pretty gold spandrels and wonderful deep coral and pale duck egg stylised leaf borders. It is in good overall condition for its age and the pile is good. The carpet is a useful size, measuring 201 cms 130 cms.
