Antique Marquetry Ormolu Mounted Bureau Desk
A fabulous Victorian ormolu mounted desk with fall front opening and fabulous marquetry decoration to both the front and sides. The desk opens to a beautifully fitted interior with a deep purple leather writing surface, pigeon hole storage and three drawers, along with a further storage compartment accessed by sliding back the panel in the centre of the desk.
The original working key is present, as well as the original, stunning and really substantial brass hinges that hold the desk in position when open.
Very good condition, structurally all in very good order with just some attractive age related wear. There is some minor aged lifting of the veneer to the top and sides where the internal joints exist, some ink stains to the leather writing surface and some fading to the wood surfaces but on the whole this is a wonderful desk in remarkably good condition.
