The tray is of square design.
The gadroon rim includes regular shell motifs, the handles being larger versions of these shell designs. This edge is in white, with gilt highlighting.
The tray/bowl is finished in cobalt blue glaze with an overall gilt circle/dot pattern embellishment.
The central reserve is a hand painted fruit design. The painting is unsigned, as is normal for this period at Royal Worcester.
The underside is plain white, with a single gilt band to the foot rim.

The tray/bowl measures 23.5 cm (9.25") by 26 cm (11"), including the handles, by 4 cm (1.5") deep. All measurements are approximate.

The green backstamp is for 1900. Additionally the tray carries the registered design number RdNo 312289, and the mark for the retailer "Mortlock's Oxford Street".
Mortlocks was founded in Oxford Street in 1746 by John Mortlock of Sawston. The business continued to be run by John and his heirs until 1930.

The tray/bowl is in very good condition. No chips, cracks or crazing have been noted. There are some surface knife(?) marks, but these are mainly confined to the white areas so do not mar the painted fruit too much. There is also some minor wear to the gilding.
