This is an antique storage box. An English, solid walnut fireside bin or occasional seat, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1880.
Fascinating and substantial, with an appealing military link
Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order
Solid walnut with 1'' thick stocks presents warm caramel hues
Superb craftsmanship and displaying fine grain interest
Lid adorned with an engraved brass plaque - reads Box for Drum for .45 Gatling Gun
Dressed to the fascia with a shield shaped, brass lock escutcheon — key absent
Pair of rope carry handles sit with broad keepers at each side
