Antique Tortoiseshell Cigar Case - Gold Inlaid
An absolute stunner of a Victorian English cigar case dating to around 1880.
I have held up against the light of the window in the photograph to highlight the stunning piece of shell that was used to make this exquisite case.
There is an ornate gold pique inlaid cartouche to the centre, vacant so could be engraved if desired. There is a thick border inlay around the front of the case and also a very fine gold inlay which is hard to detect in the photograph.
The catch and hinges are gilded, the hinges engraved, a true sign of quality.
The case is in exquisite condition with a tiny discoloration to a small piece of the inlay close to the catch, no loss but mentioned for accuracy.
5 1/2" x 2 1/2" closed.
