Antique Upholstered Bergere Caned Armchair
An attractive bergere armchair. We date this chair to the early 20th century.
The chair sits on two turned legs to the front with two square section splayed legs to the rear, there is a decoratively carved front stretcher below the seat pad.
The armrests have a barley twist support to the front. The backrest and armrests have oak frame bergere caning.
The seat has a well padded lift out cushion base and a loose cushion with fringed edging upholstered in green fabric.
The chair has a height of 37" (94cm), an overall width of 23.5" (60cm), an overall depth of 25" (64cm), a backrest height of 21.5" (55cm), a seat height of 16.5" (42cm), a seat width of 20.5" (52cm) and a seat depth of 21.5" (55cm).
This attractive bergere armchair remains in a good solid condition with only minor markings and indentations commensurate with age and usage. There is some minor wear and marks to the material and minor wear to the finish on the armrests and legs.
This remains a very stylish and elegant armchair which is very comfortable and supportive to sit on. It will continue to provide rest and relaxation for many years to come.
