Large enamel clocks like this are nearly all French and were found outdoors on public buildings with heavy turret clock movements driving the hands. This example has replica hands which we have made and keeps perfect timing because of the heavy duty quartz movement we have fitted to the back of the dial. There is damage at the numeral 4 which looks as though it might have been from a bullet fired at it, perhaps during WWII! You can see where the bullet has penetrated the enamel.
