Art Deco Silver Bouillon Spoon, Frank Cobb, 1939
Here we have a very elegant Art Deco Sterling Silver Bouillon Spoon from just at the start of the Second World War. The spoon has been stylishly hand engraved with an archetypal Art Deco design. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.
Bouillon spoons are essentially small soup spoons that are traditionally used for eating clear soups and consommés.
The spoon is made is Sheffield by Frank Cobb & Co and dates to 1939. Frank Cobb founded his company around 1905 and they remained in business up until the mid-1980s.
Condition is very good with no dings or dents and just the superficial surface wear that you would expect after over 80 years of use. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The spoon is 11.5cm / 4.5ins long and weighs a substantial 20.9g / 0.74oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks on the underside of the stem are nice and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the crown assay mark for Sheffield, the date letter w for 1939 and the F.C makers' mark for Frank Cobb & Co.
Shipping in the UK is £4 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For.
