Art Deco Silver Caddy Spoon, Frank Cobb, 1936
This is a very stylish Art Deco Sterling Silver Caddy Spoon from the mid-1930s. The stem is hand engraved with a distinctively Deco stepped motif with a harebell flower dropping from it, making a very attractive design.
The caddy spoon is made in Sheffield by Frank Cobb & Co Ltd and dates to 1936, the single year of the reign of Edward VIII. Frank Cobb founded his company around 1905, becoming Frank Cobb & Co Ltd in 1909 and remaining in business up until the mid-1980s.
Condition is very good, with no dings or dents and just the minimal amount of superficial surface wear that you would expect after over 80 years of use. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The caddy spoon is 9.5cm / 3.7ins long and weighs in at a respectable 13.6g / 0.48oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks, on the underside of the stem, are crisp and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the crown assay mark for Sheffield, the date letter t for 1936 and the F C makers' mark for Frank Cobb & Co Ltd.
Shipping in the UK is £4 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For.
