A stunning Kralik draped glass inkwell dating to around 1900 in excellent condition. The beautiful red draped glass is free from chips, cracks, and scratches and the brass lid closes as it should. The brass leaf base is also in excellent condition and is also free of blemishes. The inkwell is secured to the base with a bayonet fitting. The base measures 16.9cm in length and is 13.7cm wide. The inkwell stands 8.0cm in height when fitted to the base. I have seen inkwells such as this described as by Loetz or even French in origin. A useful website to the identification of Czech inkwells is ‘The Czech iridescent inkwell ID project’ developed by Eddy Scheepers and Alfredo Villanueva Collado. Information and examples given on this site make it quite clear that this is a Kralik inkwell.
