Burr Elm Chopping Block Table c.1890 %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
Remarkable kitchen chopping block on legs c.1890. Ideal as a rustic side table. Made from an 9" thick slice of an enormous elm burr. The extraordinary dense folded grain of burr elm means it resists splitting, making it perfect for a chopping block. Raised on three simple legs shaped (rather than turned) with a drawer knife and flared for stability. The legs appear to have been re-fitted at some point. Great colour and character and very good condition. Solid and sturdy, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
Dimensions: Width 29½" Height 30" Depth 24".
