sn2273 Victorian, brass mounted, teakwood, campaign chest of drawers in two sections, having 2 short above 3 long drawers with recessed hadles, standing on bun feet, labelled Army and Navy C.S.L. Makers- The Army and Navy Co-operative Society Ltd was formed by a group of army and navy officers in 1871, with the intention to supply “articles of domestic consumption and general use to its members at the lowest rates”. The first store opened on the 15th February 1872 in Victoria Street, London and supplied shotguns, rifles, pistols, ammunition and related accessories, as well as shirts, watches, saddlery and golfing equipment.. By the end of 1873 a separate gun department had been established.
By the end of the century the Society was issuing an enormous annual illustrated price list and in 1901 opened branches in Bombay, Delhi, Calcutta and Karachi. In 1934 the name was changed to the Army and Navy Store Ltd. They were taken over by the House of Fraser in 1973.

Of course you can organise your own courier service if that suits you better, though we must emphasise that we can not take any responsibility for the item once it leaves our premises. If you wish to take this option, please let us know at the time of purchase.

Alternatively, you are more than welcome to come and collect your purchase in person. We love to see our antiques leave us in the safe hands of their new owners, though again we must mention that you will be taking responsibility for any ensued damage once it leaves our premises.

Returns
If for some unlikely reason you are not happy with your purchase, we offer a full refund policy. We only ask that you inform us by telephone or email within 48 hours of receiving your package, if you wish to return it. We will then arrange a courier to come and collect it, the cost of which will be deducted from your refund. The furniture must arrive back to us in the same condition that it left us.

We deem this to be an unlikely situation though and anticipate that you will be as delighted with your purchase as we are in seeing it safely sent to a new home.
