Chatwood Safe Lock
Chatwood initially had their locks made by Aubin but to their own design/patents. The anti-pressure device in this lock was Chatwood’s Invincible patent and the lever design was an employee’s (Robert Parkin) invention. This design, made by Aubin, generally known as Chatwoods 2nd lock, where the key enters an aperture in the centre of the lever is important as it makes the lock gun powder proof in that it would be impossible to ram sufficient powder into the lock to do any damage. This example is marked ‘ Chatwood’s Patent Invincible 91163 Bolton’. Size 58 x 114mm.
