Derby Sampson Hancock Prentice Type Plate c1895
We have for sale a rather lovely late Victorian Derby Sampson Hancock porcelain plate decorated in the manner of the famed Prentice Plate.
This truly beautiful plate is decorated in pink, green and gilt on a white ground with 3 central roses surrounded by a running rose border, a pattern that was clearly strongly influenced by the famous William Billingsley decorated Prentice Plate. The back of the plate carries the late 19th century Samual Hancock or John James Robinson period Duesbury Derby like mark dating to somewhere around 1890-1900.
The plate is 8.75 inches in diameter and is in an excellent condition.
