This is a fabulous unusual 19th century Dutch canopied walnut bed or lit en bateau inlaid all over in floral marquetry with birds and butterflies. The facing side has scrolling carved dolphins to the ends joined by a rail inlaid with flowers and a butterfly, beneath is a scroll and shell carved apron. The opposing side, canopy supports and canopy frieze are also inlaid. The canopy could be used to hang curtains or veils and the whole thing can be moved about thanks to wheels to the underside.
