This is a fine quality early 20th Century Silver Plated Egg Cruet for Four. The cruet consists of a tray raised on four trefid feet with a scalloped edge and a central handle. This holds the four egg cups, which have matching scalloped rims and four spoons with beaded stems hang from the central handle.

The egg cruet is made in Sheffield by George Wish & Co and dates to the early 20th century or possibly the latter years of the 19th century. George Wish founded his firm in 1878 and specialised in electroplated wares, primarily for the dining table. He established a reputation for good quality items and in the 1890s opened a London showroom in the prestigious Hatton Garden district. Sadly his son George Jnr who had been taken on as his partner died aged just 25 in 1903 and the firm ceased trading shortly after George Snr's death in 1928.

Condition is extremely good with no dings or dents, no significant plate loss and just the bare minimum of superficial surface wear that has to be expected after around 100 years of use. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The egg cruet is 23cm / 9ins long, 14cm / 5.5ins wide and stands 21.5cm / 8.5ins high. It weighs in at 686g / 24.2oz.

The underside of the base is stamped E.P.N.S for silver plate, A1 showing it is the top grade of silver plate and the G.W over S makers' mark for George Wish & Co of Sheffield.
