This is a beautiful Edwardian Sterling Silver Two Part Belt Buckle. Each half is fan shaped with each pierced segment having leaf and berry decoration. This would look as striking today as it did in the Edwardian era.

The buckle was made in Birmingham by silversmiths Sydney & Co and dates to 1902. Sydney & Co was founded by Judah, Albert & Lionel Ahronsberg in around 1900 at premises in Powell Street in Birmingham. They produced an extensive range of small silverware for personal and domestic use and also made a range of trophy cups. The firm was very successful and remained in business until around the mid 1970s.

Condition is extremely good, with no dings or dents and just the minimal superficial surface wear that you would expect after over 120 years of good service. The catch is nice and secure. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The buckle measures 7.5cm / 2.9ins by 5.6cm / 2.2ins and weighs in at a respectable 24.7g / 0.87oz of solid Sterling Silver.

The hallmarks, on the underside near the centre, are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter c for 1902 and the S & Co makers' mark for Sydney & Co. The other half of the buckle has a partial set of the lion passant and the date letter c.
