Edwardian Silver Gilt Mustard Spoon Sheffield 1907
This is a good quality Edwardian Sterling Silver Gilt Mustard Spoon in the classic Old English pattern. The spoon is gilded all over and has no initials or personalisation of any kind.
The mustard spoon was made in Sheffield by Atkin Brothers and dates to 1907. Tracing its roots back to Thomas Law in the mid-18th century, the Atkin family took sole control of the business in 1840, first as Henry Atkin & Co and then from 1853 as Atkin Brothers. The firm manufactured both silverware and electroplate in Sheffield and also had a London showroom. They ceased trading in 1958.
Condition is very good, with no dings or dents and just a little rubbing to the gilding on the stem. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The mustard spoon is 8.4cm / 3.3ins long and weighs in at 8.5g / 0.3oz of solid Sterling Silver Gilt.
The hallmarks, on the underside of the stem, are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the crown assay mark for Sheffield, the Gothic date letter p for 1907 and the H A makers' mark for Harry Atkin of Atkin Brothers.
Shipping in the UK is £4.50 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For.
