Edwin Sherwood calvert. (1844-1898) 19th Century antique oil on canvas.


Signed oil on canvas with James McClure and son - Glasgow. Calvert worked in Glasgow and north France where he created realistic coast and sea scapes and then landscapes in the style of Corot in the beginning of his career. He exhibited his works in the British Royal academy (1878-1896), in the new gallery, Suffolk street gallery, New water colour Society and at the Paris salon (soc.des artfranc., 1896).
