Circa 1880. A late Victorian Dutch style walnut and kingwood inlaid bureau probably by ‘Morison and Co of Edinburgh’. The top with gilded pierced gallery with floral marquetry on the flat surface, the inlaid flap with a fine cast brass Rococo escutcheon opens to reveal a simple interior with new fitted felt on the writing surface. With an unusual combination of drawers of various shapes, and two elegant loppers with ring pulls in the form of a wreath. The sides and the back are polished, with floral marquetry panels on the front and sides, beneath the first drawer the base is bombe shaped, beneath the bottom drawer is a deep frieze, all resting on splayed feet at the back with large ball and claw feet to the front.
