The iconic Art Deco Richard 'Thistle' compact in excellent condition. A must for the collector of Art Deco compacts. As you would expect this antique compact has a deep golden patina through out. The lid has gorgeous blue enamel & set atop is a highly stylized thistle. The lid opens to reveal a golden interior - the inner lid signed 'RICHARD HUDNUT'. The mirror is very good & opens on a hinge to reveal the rouge compartment & another mirror which is also very good. Below the rouge compartment these instructions are inscribed 'USE ROUGE REFILL NO.428 MADE IN U.S.A.'
All clasps & hinges work perfectly. The powder well is beautifully gilded so too the underside of the inner lid & inscribed 'PAT. 1635631'. The base is decorated with the delightful Art Deco swirl like a Catherine wheel.
This Art Deco beauty measures 6.5 cm & weighs 57.7 grams.
