Fine & Early 18th Century Wigton Lantern Clock
A Fine & Early 18th Century brass cased lantern antique clock made by Richard Sanderson of Wigton(w.1704-29). Single pointer to the 6" brass engraved centre dial. Verge escapement to the bell striking movement. Original brass frets to the top, side opening doors and cast bell to the top. Full working order. Very original. Measures 6"square x 15"high. Sat on a polished oak wall bracket. Measures 8"square x 21"high.
Richard Sill was apprenticed to John Sanderson of Wigton, Cumbria. This is one of his earlier examples probably when he took over from John Sanderson.
