A really lovely example of a late Regency work or sewing box. The box is in bird's eye maple with rosewood crossbanding and a central diamond, which contrast dramatically. The box stands on the original rosewood turned feet and is even crossbanded in rosewood on the base to match the top, a true sign of quality. The interior is the original and fitted with a lift out tray and a beautifully padded velvet lid. I have left the menagerie of assembled sewing pieces in it that appear to have been accumulated with it over the years. The box is in lovely original condition and has a superb patina and colour, and even a working lock and key. This is a fine untouched example of it's type and a beautiful old fashioned antique. C.1830.
