Fruitwood ink stand. Miniature desk. C1900.
This very attractive inkstand is made from fruitwood, and judging by the colour it is probably Cherry wood. A small desk with glass and solid silver inkwells which are marked as "Sterling" silver. I would assume therefore that it is continental in origin and because of the Cherry wood, probably French. There are two drawers to the desk, one for pens and the other I presume is for stamps.
The chequered designs to the front and back are inset pieces of wood.
The wood has lovely patinaion so I have not "cleaned" the piece but only dusted it to keep the originality.
The condition is very good for a piece which is over one hundred years of age. The glass inkwell have some minor nicks to the corners and the wood has an old repair which is not noticed as it is behind an inkwell, and a small slip of beading is missing from the rear.
It stands 24cms wide and 12cms deep. The height to the top of the back is 14cms. For international shipping, please contact us for a price.
We want our customers to be satisfied with their purchases, so we offer a money back guarantee. Items must be returned within 14 days and in the same condition as sent. Please note that postage and shipping costs are non-refundable.
