Gallipoli Interest Wilkinson officers sword
HEB Newenham was born in Dublin and educated at Hailbury school. He went onto Sandhurstand joined The Royal Fusileers in 1886 serving in South Africa where he was wounded ,He commanded the second battalion at Gallipoli in April 1915 where he was severely wounded on the first day of the landing ,Newenham was awarded the CB in 1916 for his leadership and bravery , in that battle he lost his leg as a result of the wound ,he died aged 68 after a long illness on 17th November 1934 with the rank of Brigadier General he was the mayor of Lymington from 1924/1927 , a very nice sword to a real war hero , comes in original scabbard with leather frog ,and knot
