Large watercolour dated 1947, exhibited at the "Ashgate Gallery", Wagon Yard, Downing Street, Farnham. (label on the reverse). All original 1950's frame, off-white with small patterning details and a slim grey patterned mount. The painting measures 19 x 25 inches (or 23 x 29 approx with the frame). No marks to the painting, frame has some age but all original, small crack bottom corner of the glass left side. Selling as a Genuine original British School artwork by the above artist.
NOTE: Details of the artist. 1910-1994. Born in India, Exhibited at the Leicester Galleries in the 1940's, was at the Slade School and the Royal Academy School from 1931-1935. Also a Rome Scholar. Worked on the "Recording Britain" scheme with Kenneth Clark. His work is held by the V & A, Brighton & Hove Museums, The British Museum and others. Influenced by the Fauvism style and Bloomsbury and his colours reflect the Indian influences in his works, especially this vibrant Thames River scene.
