George III Silver Soup Ladle Old English Thread
A handsome Georgian silver soup ladle in the Old English Thread pattern, double struck so the pattern is repeated on the reverse. A family crest is engraved to the front of the handle of a rampant lion stood atop a turret and set below a coronet. A monogram is ornately engraved to the reverse. Hallmarked for London 1778, maker George Smith III.
It measures 34.3cm (13 1/2") long and the bowl is 9cm (3 1/2") wide and 3.5cm (1 5/8") deep. It weighs 200g / 6.4ozt.
In excellent condition, no dents and minimal handling wear, all the marks and engravings are crisp as is the decoration. Payment is accepted by bank transfer, card payments (via an online invoice, I'm afraid we cannot take payments over the telephone), Paypal and UK personal cheque. If you prefer to pay by Stripe please go to our website where we offer that option and additionally options to "Pay in 30 days" and to pay in 3 instalments, all securely supported.
