George V Half Fluted Silver Tea Caddy / Sugar Box
A very nice Georgian style silver tea caddy or sugar box of oval shape with melon fluting to the lower half of the body and sharply inwardly curved shoulders. The hinged curved cover sits slightly recessed and decorated with a raised dome of melon fluting and carved ebony knop with matching fluted design. Hallmarked for Sheffield 1916, maker George Howson (Harrison Brothers & Howson), partial marks inside cover.
It measures 11.2cm (4 3/8") high, 12cm (4 3/4") wide and 8.5cm (3 3/8") deep. It weighs 195g / 6.3ozt.
In excellent condition with no damage or repair, dents or dings. Very minor handling wear, the marks are clear and the hinge and knop are fine. Nice and clean inside. Payment is accepted by bank transfer, card payments (via an online invoice, I'm afraid we cannot take payments over the telephone), Paypal and UK personal cheque.
