Georgian Book of Psalms 1790
A very interesting 18th century leather bound Book of Psalms.
First given by Deborah Williams to her son in 1790. It was then handed down through the family, see main picture. Mentions Bournemouth, and Warminster in Wiltshire. Last date recorded is 1920.
Inside covers have beautiful marble paper and there is a book plate in the front of an owl wearing a coronet which is the Burton family crest.
The spine is beautifully decorated. The gold leaf is in very good order for the age of the book and the page edges are also in good order. On the back inside cover is 9/9 not sure if this was the original price paid or its a reference. Any signs of wear appear to be minor and commensurate with age and use.
