Hawkers £5.00 Penalty Payment - 1837
A letter addressed to The Clerk of the Peace for Northumberland, Aldwick, from a J Timm, Solicitor for Stamps & Taxes, London Dated 7th November 1837. The Letter reads Sir, I beg to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 3rd inst. inclosing a Bank note for £5 the Crown's moiety of a penalty recovered from ANN FRAIN under the Act relating to Hawkers and Pedlars.
The paper has a very good Watermark and was folded to make an envelope with wax seal and has a nice open franking saying 'Paid 7 Nov 1837' The paper is folded in half.
