Highly collectible 1950s Stratton compact
We are delighted to have this in our collection not just because of the sought-after lid, excellent quality of the enamel & the whole compact but most especially as it has a rare decoration inside the inner lid.

If you click on image four you will see the luxurious satinised lid and in black enamel toasts from all around the world - just delightful! The main lid is decorated with colourful bottles of alchol, glasses of wine, cocktails, mugs of beer, grapes on the vine, lemons, cork screws & even two magic wands. What a magical vintage Stratton powder compact. Ideal for the collector or to celebrate a very special occasion. As you would expect from Stratton the enamel is superb & the enamel decorations have applied with great skill & attention to detail. All clasps & hinges work perfectly. This compact comes with all the accessories, box, pouch, puff & sifter all of which are in excellent condition.
The inner lid is beautiful & decorated with the 'Compact-in-Hand' logo showing that this compact is fitted with an automatic self-opening lid. Tilt back the mirror slightly & the inner lid pops open. Stratton patented this mechanism. It was designed to prevent ladies from breaking their nails. This mechanism still works perfectly every time. The mirror gives an excellent reflection - it has a few age related marks but nothing that would spoil the enjoyment of this compact. The base is decorated with a fine spiral.
This adorable vintage Stratton compact measures almost 3" & weighs 92.2 grams.
