A very unusual case for sewing implements. Shaped as a banjo case and covered in a fine leather, probably Moroccan, it makes for a wonderful present for a banjo playing seamstress (I bet there is nobody like that on the Great Sewing Bee). The base of the case is the original red paper, used frequently on Victorian / Edwardian items.

The case contains a pair of scissors, a needle and a thimble. The scissors look contemporary with the size and indentation on the velvet interior matching perfectly. The thimble and needle are probably not original.

The condition is very good for such an item. There are the expected nicks to the leather and the paper base but these do not detract from the look and stability of the item. The fine leather handle of the case is well used and needs to be treated with care. The etched brass securing clip and hinges are all in good working order.

The case is 6.75 inches or 16cms long.
