This is a very fine Mahogany Secretaire Bookcase in the manner of Gillows of Lancaster. It has a detachable pendant cornice above astragal glazed doors with Prince of Wales plumes of feathers and foliate paterae, enclosing adjustable shelves. This bookcase also boasts a secretaire drawer in the centre, fitted with pigeon holes and drawers, and a central cupboard flanked by a pair of satinwood faux fluted secret pilaster compartments. The writing surface is leather lined and flanked by a pair of deep drawers with false fronts, all with lion's mask brass handles.
