Made as a very high quality apprentice piece of perhaps a 'trade sample'.
A wonderful display piece and also a very usable size for jewellery or trinkets etc.
Construction being of superb quality & detail, no doubt the work of a highly skilled cabinet maker, signed & dated by such.
To the inner rear panel clearly inscribed, 'Made by Thomas Rodham 1877'. Further inscriptions to the base of one drawer 'made in 1877'
The piece is in fine condition, all drawers operating freely.
Made from solid mahogany, the drawers displaying a fine cock-bead detail to the flamed mahogany drawer fronts
