Mahogany Work Or Sewing Table C1790
Here we have a rare George III Mahogany work or sewing table c1790. As you can see the table has great colour and patina. There is a single piece Cuban or Honduran Mahogany top cut from the heartwood to show the lovely swirling grain. There is Ebony inlay both strung and arrowhead to the corners. The Ebony string is also replicated on the front faux drawer. There is an original working lock and key. The top lifts and stays up independantly to reaveal an original fitted interior. There is the original blue lining paper and three scumbled fronted drawers with I---y handles. The drawer to the right being internally fitted for sewing instruments. The inside of the top also has Ebony string inlay so there is decoration when using and keeping the lid open. The legs are elegant, tapered and perfectly executed. A fine rare table in great retail condition ready for your home. The dimensions are approx 25.5 inches wide 16.5 deep and 28 high.
