Mid-Century Danish Silver Cake Server, Cohr, 1958
This is a very fine Mid-Century Danish 830 Silver Server for small cakes or pastries. The server is double struck in the Herregaard pattern, meaning the design is on both the top side and the underside of the handle. The blade of the server is plain.
The piece is made by Carl M. Cohr in Fredericia, Denmark and dates to 1958. Carl Cohr took over his father Ditlef Cohr's business after the latter's death in 1883. He quickly established his company as one of the finest manufacturing silversmiths in Denmark. Carl's son Einar took over the firm after his father's death in 1925 and they remained in business up until 1987.
Condition is very good with no dings or dents and only the superficial surface wear you would expect after over 60 years of service. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The server is 15.6cm / 6.1ins long, the blade is 5.3cm / 2.1ins wide and it weighs in at a very respectable 51.8g / 1.82oz of solid silver.
The marks on the underside of the stem are well struck and clear to read. They show the Danish three towers mark for minimum 830 grade silver with the number 58 below it for 1958 and the makers' mark COHR for Carl M. Cohr.
Shipping in the UK is £6 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For Parcel Post.
