Mid-Century Norwegian Silver Caddy Spoon, c.1950s
This is a very stylish Mid-Century Norwegian 830 Silver Caddy Spoon in the Tele pattern. Tele is a popular Norwegian flatware pattern that was made in the mid-century post war years. It features swirling scrolls and foliage in a pierced design. Many different flatware pieces were made in this pattern but the caddy spoon is one of the rarer items.
The caddy spoon is made by Brodrene Mylius (Mylius Brothers), a firm of silversmiths and pewterers founded in Kragero, Norway in the 1930s. Kragero is in the Telemark district of Norway, from which the Tele pattern takes its name.
Condition is very good, with no dings or dents and only the most minimal wear that has to be expected after around 50 to 60 years of use. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The caddy spoon is 8.9cm / 3.5ins long and weighs a respectable 9.1g / 0.32oz of solid silver.
The marks on the underside of the stem are clear to read. They show the 830S stamp for 830 / 1000 grade silver, the NM design copyright stamp and the seagull on a rock makers' mark for Brodrene Mylius.
Shipping in the UK is £4 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For.
