Octagonal Silver Plated Serving Dish, c.1920s
This is a superb quality silver plated serving dish made by Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co and dating to the 1920s. It is octagonal in shape and has the clean lines of the Art Deco style which was just coming into fashion at that time. The handle is removable so that you have the choice to use it as a single dish with a cover or as two open dishes. It is a stunning piece which is also entirely practical for use today.
The Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co of Regent Street, London is one of the great names in English silver and silver plate. Founded in 1880 by William Gibson and John Langman they established their business at 112 Regent Street as both a retailer and manufacturer of the very best quality. They finally merged with another great name, Garrard & Co, in 1952.
Condition is very good with no dings, dents or plate loss and just one tiny salt spot on the inside base. It has clearly been a much valued piece throughout its many years of service. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
It is 25.6cm wide, 18.5cm deep and 13cm high to the top of the handle. It weighs 1.19kg.
The base is stamped with Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co and their brand name "REGENT PLATE". It also has a registered design no of 681510 which dates the design of the piece to 1921.
Shipping in the UK is £9 by Hermes Tracked & Signed.
