Late 19th.c. still life painting in oil on canvas c.1890. An attractive arrangement of objects featuring Dutch delftware plate and vase, an unusual cream porcelain jar with a woven seagrass carrier, a lacquered box, a book, bottle and glass of wine, knife and cork and a pear together with textured fabrics presented on a white table cloth. Large signature Ch de Rest in the lower left hand corner of the canvas. Some crackling to the surface, mainly to middle portion of the background. Presented unframed on the original stretcher.
