Pair of 17th Century Carved Walnut Panel ‘Swags’
An exquisite pair of finely carved walnut decorative panel strips, these ‘swags’ date to the 17th century and are from a Charles II period panelled room. They are meant to be viewed vertically, having a bow each at the top and a tassel at the bottom, with fruits, flowers, leaves and vines carved along the length. They are currently pin tacked to modern painted planks and can be easily displayed as wall hangings, but could be removed and used as a framing decoration or in an early interior.
Dating to circa 1680, these are made of walnut and originate from England.
